悲報: クビになりました。/ I got fired

さぁ、前回近況報告でブドウファームに来た事をお伝えしました。
これからゆっくり、「どんなファームか」「具体的な仕事内容」「ファームでの1日」などなど、ご紹介しようと思っていましたが
昨夜、ブドウファームをクビになりました。
そおぉぉぉおおおおおおおい！
という事で、本日のテーマは
経緯をお話しする前に、今の私の立ち位置をご説明しましょう。
求人を見て申し込み、恐らく100人近く収容できる合宿所みたいな所に来たわけですが
この宿を運営するのは、我々の労働契約主体であり、基本的に我々の指示系統はこの会社になります。
一方で職場はファームであり、当然その畑の持ち主やそこのスタッフが数名います。彼らは恐らくオージー。
つまり、ファームへの労働力提供エージェント≒人材派遣会社のようなイメージです。
お察しの通り、基本的にはファーム>エージェントという力関係が成り立ちます。
今の仕事は
1.木からブドウを狩る
2.房から規定に合わない粒を切る
3.規定の重さになるよう、箱詰め
この3行程を繰り返しながら、ひたすらブドウウェイを進むお仕事です。
1人1列、ひたすらピッキング
ピッキングセットはこんな感じ
で、問題が
2.房から規定に合わない粒を切る
という行程。
いろいろ注文はあるのですが、これを大真面目にやると下手すれば家賃すら払えない収入分しか箱を作れない。
ちなみに初日、2人1組で31箱。1人あたり15.5箱でしたが、トップピッカーは60箱越え。
よ、4倍…
早い人にコツを聞いていくと、結局この一言に集約されます。
「いかに規定外のカット作業を省き、規定通り感を出すか」
要は、いかに上手くズルするかって事です。当然、数字ではないので明確な基準はなく、人の目で見た判断になります。
また手作業なので、超ガチでやっても絶対に見落としは発生し得ます。
なので、早い人はその塩梅と、ぱっと見の表面のキレイさが絶妙に上手い。
前置きが長くなりましたが、先週の半ばから畑とブドウの種類が新たに変更に。
そして明らかに
チェックが厳しくなった。
そんな中、昨日はファームのボスがトラクターでずっとウロウロしながら出来た箱をチェック
エージェントのマネジャー陣も、いつも以上に細かくチェック・作り直し指示
という状況でした。
直近のブドウはこんな感じで詰めます
いろんな人のアドバイスや、どの程度丁寧にやれば良いか塩梅を覚え、少しスピードが上がってきた私は(それでも出来高は全体の平均くらい)
昨日もその調子で詰めていきます。途中、何度かファームオーナーがトラクターで巡回。
チラ見で通り過ぎる度に、ホッとひと安心…
しかし残り2時間くらいの所で、また巡回に来て、何やらトラクターから降りて箱の前でしゃがんで電話している。。。
その後しばらくして、マネジャーが来て厳重注意。
なんと箱の中身を全部ひっくり返して確認されてしまった。
規定の再確認と、作り直し指示。そして次いい加減な仕事をしたらクビだ！と。
正直、中身をひっくり返して確認までされると、恐らく7〜8割の人達は完全にアウト。今までそこまでチェックされる事はなかったんですね。
ちなみにこのクビ宣告、実は日常的にあり、特に昨日はかなり多くの人が私と同じ状況になっていた様子。
一方でトップピッカー達はチェックすらされないので、新米の我々はしばらく質重視でスピードを落とし信用を得る事に専念しなきゃならんかな…
家賃と生活費が払えるギリギリの箱数を目指して、しばらくは丁寧にやろう
そんな事を話していた夕食時、5人が宿にあるオフィスに呼ばれる
そして、クビ宣告。
ほげぇぇぇええええ！！！
ラストチャンス、次やったらクビだ。と言われて、明日からバッチリ改善しようと思ってたら…
ラストチャンス無かったー！一発アウトぉお！笑
その5人のうち2人は、2人1組でなんと実働3日目との事。初日も目を付けられたため、かなり丁寧にやっていたので、全く理解出来ないと呆然…
どうやら、ファームのボスが日中に目を付けた中からいくつかの番号の箱をチェックして、エージェントのマネジャーに
「◯番、◯番…の箱を作った奴は、明日から寄越すな。クビだ。」
と連絡をした模様。
特に長くファームにいる人、またエージェント側も、暗黙の「まぁこれ位ならええやろ」ラインが今回のブドウ・輸出先では完全にアウトという事で…
恐らく見せしめ的な部分もあろうかと。
そんなこんなで私は本日休みになってしまったわけですが…恐らく注意喚起があったであろうと、仲良いメンバーに本日の進捗を聞くと、軒並みいつもの半分以下という状況のようです笑
今回の突然の、そして引き強すぎなクビ宣告を受け
思った事や考えた事は、また別のログでお伝えしようと思います。
そしてリアルニートに戻ったヒゲニート、これからどうするの!?という話ですが
今回はファームのボスからエージェント側が、いわば「おたくの派遣社員使えないから要らない」と切られた感じなので、別の派遣先ないし何らかの形で仕事を探してくれるとの事。
せっかくの縁あって来たファーム。仲良くなった人もいるし、マネジャーもあくまで我々側で良くしてくれるので
もしまた別の仕事を貰えるようなら、迷惑をかけてしまったマネジャーのためにも、引き続きここに留まります。

Hige means beard in Japanese and actually Neat describe ‘neet’ but I’m tidy person as well, so use the word ‘neat’ because it’s same pronunciation and I’m not an office worker now and it's a big difference from when working brilliant Japanese big company. discribing myself neet is a joke about my challenge to change my life drastically from usual businessman. haha

I moved to a grape farm 2weeks ago.
and yesterday...
I got fired :)
Soooooooy!!
I'd like to start with my situation before my story of 'getting fire'.
There are over 50 people here and our accommodation likes a traning camp. We are under contract with a company who runs this big accommodation and dispatch laborer to some farms as an agent.
Our work place is a farm basically. Of course there are a boss of a farm and some stuff, I think they are Aussie.
So There is an obvious power balance, farmers have more power than an agent and I'm a worker of the agent.
Let me come back to my 'fire story'.
My work is pritty simple.
1. Pick a bunch of grapes
2. Trim pieces out of regulations
3. Pack good bunchs for a box
How work quickly depends on how to do on the process '2'.
Everyone tries to make lords of boxs as much as they can bacause our salary is piecework basis.
And top pickers say same things about process '2' like that, how to mix pieces out of regulation with good pieces and make a surface of a box so good is all we have to do to improve your outcome.
Thanks to the advice, I've improved my outcome.
However
Recently the boss of a current farm often said like that 'quality is all' and managers checked our boxs of grapes strictly.
And all we didn't expect that the boss checks our boxs directly and our manager has to ask us to remake boxs.
Our manager said like that
Do this do that, never use such pieces...
A farmer concerns about quality seriously, please remake all boxs you made and improve your making box based on regulations, otherwise we can't protect you from getting fired. It's a last chance.
On the other hands, top pickers or sinior pickers weren't be checked strictly.
So, we have to change the way of working and improving quality of our box of grapes. We'll keep good qualitu without quickness until they trust us.
We talked about such things at last dinner.
At that time, our manager called 5 people of over 50 pickers to their office.
And then
We got fired :)
Even though I thought the day after that is my last chance, I didn't have a last chance to improve any more! haha
Everyone involved stuff of the agent knows how we make boxs and quality of these.
However, under current situation farmers have to become crazy about quality. The boss decided to fire some bad pickers and sent message to our manager.
My friends here and I know a lot of people make similar quality or even worse to mine. So it likes totally a lottery. I think it meant also a lesson to others not to make a box of grapes bad quality.
It's up to me how to think and feel about my story. At least, I succeeded to make new laughing story! haha
Anyway, I'll talk in regard to what I felt or learn from my getting fired on next article.
In addition, our manager keeps being so kind for us and said that he would try to find other job for us.
I'm really sorry for him and appreciate his kindness. That's why I want to stay and work here if I can get other job.
